Support coastal connections

Letter from the Victorian Coastal Council

13th May 2016
Dear colleagues

RE: Australia’s national coastal conference (Coast to Coast 2016)

I’m writing to seek your support for the upcoming national Coast to Coast Conference being hosted by the Victorian Coastal Council at the MCG from 29thAugust – 1st September 2016 (see promotional brochure attached).

There has never been a more important time to come together to share learning and experience and to draw inspiration as we respond to the significant opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in coastal and marine environments across Australia.

Coast to Coast 2016 will highlight original research, innovation and leading practice across coast and marine science, policy-making, strategy, management and community engagement. The conference will bring together Australian and international experts with delegates from the three spheres of government, universities, the private sector, regional natural resource management organisations, community groups and volunteers.

I’m hoping you will agree to take up one or more of the following suggestions to help us ensure Victoria’s hosting of the conference is a success:

·        Support your staff and colleagues to attend the conference.
·        Encourage colleagues to present a paper, run a workshop or set up a stall or banner at the conference to showcase the work of your organisation.
·        Advertise the conference on your websites, newsletters & social media. It would be great if you would include the conference banner into your email signature box.

Perhaps most critically, we seek your assistance in attracting sponsorship of the conference.  A generic sponsorship proposal is attached which can be adapted for specific sponsors and conference events.

DELWP, as our Platinum sponsor, has generously provided $50,000 in sponsorship. As you will be aware, personal and professional connections are one of the most effective ways of securing sponsors.  I’m hoping you’ll take a look at the attached list of potential sponsors and let us know if you might be able to connect us with a relevant role holder within that organisation. Our conference organising team will take it from there.

So please have a look at the sponsorship package and the list of potential sponsors and let VCC Executive Officer, Ms Nicola Waldron (nicola.waldron@delwp.vic.gov.au or 03 9637 9241) know if you can connect us with key role holders in potential sponsoring organisations.

If you require further information or have any questions please contact either Nicola or myself on 0418 387 312 or cath@reckonltd.com.au.

Thanks in anticipation.
