The plight of the Coorong

The current state of the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth region is a very visible testament of mismanagement across the Murray Darling Basin and the same culprits are still involved today.

Australia’s deplorable performance in the Murray Darling Basin is on full display to a very wide and very knowledgeable global audience.

Australia urgently needs a government that is fully committed to breaking the chokehold of this lobby. To set up a system of law (including the Centre for Public Integrity’s National Integrity Commission) that can control lobby groups and ensure they operate lawfully.

The vexed Coorong problems, a direct result of the actions of the upstream irrigation lobby, are decades old and not going away.
